NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti mining

The company NVIDIA again pampers its fans: now they will be on what with comfort to play in the novelties of the gaming industry. In the spring of this year, the GeForce GTX 980 Ti graphics card was introduced, on a powerful Maxwell graphics chip. The new graphics accelerator GM200 boasts 2816 stream processors and 176 texture units. The base frequency of the GPU is 1000 MHz, and the effective memory frequency is 7010 MHz. The amount of video memory GDDR5 was impressive 6 GB. The memory bandwidth is also increased – it works on a 384 bit bus.

In addition, the novelty fully supports the new DirectX 12, all the charms of which we will see soon. And in the already released games Far Cry 4 and The Witcher 3, users of GeForce GTX 980 Ti will be able to appreciate all the effects of NVIDIA GameWorks: advanced visualization of dynamic wool and fabrics, interactive smoke and an improved particle system.

  • Graphical clusters: 6
  • Streaming multiprocessors: 22
  • Stream processors: 2816
  • Texture Blocks: 176
  • Rendering units: 96
  • Base frequency of the GPU: 1000 MHz
  • Boost Clock: 1075 MHz
  • Memory frequency: 3505 MHz
  • L2 cache: 3 MB
  • Transmission speed: 7 Gbps
  • Memory capacity: 6144MB GDDR5
  • Memory bus: 384-bit
  • Process: 28 nm
  • Number of transistors: 8000 million
  • Interfaces: 3 x DisplayPort, 1 x HDMI, 1 x Dual-Link DVI
  • Form factor: two-slot
  • Supported version of DirectX: 12.1
  • Power Connectors: One 8-pin and one 6-pin
  • Power: 250 watts
  • Recommended PSU: 600 W
  • Length: 270 mm
  • Thermal threshold: 92 ° C

The reference design of the novelty is identical to the flagships of the past. The casing completely closes the entire video card. Silver plastic with black inserts looks solid, there is a transparent toned window through which you can view the radiator. Screws for a non-standard hex screwdriver. The length of the video card is only 270 mm.

On the side, in the center, there is an inscription GeForce GTX with green illumination. With the help of the driver it is possible to adjust the illumination indication, up to the color music accompaniment.

On the edges of the inscription – interfaces for connecting two bridges SLI and two connectors for additional power supply – for 6 and 8 contacts.

The interfaces for connecting video connectors are arranged in two rows: one DVI at the bottom, three DisplayPort tops and one HDMI.

The reverse side shows us PCB textolite, not covered by a metal plate. Here we see a lot of screws, after which we can remove the whole cooling system.

Cooling system

From the far end we see a grid for air intake, which is blown through the entire length of the turbine, cools the radiators, and is thrown through the ventilation grilles of the front panel.

On the bottom of the radiator, we see thermal pads, through which heat is removed from transistors and memory chips. With a GPU crystal, the copper nickel-plated base of a separate radiator contacts.

Printed circuit board

The GM200-310-A1 processor is located on the PCB. Around it is a protective metal frame.

On the perimeter of the video processor, 12 SKhynix memory chips H5GQ4H24MFR R2C are wired.

There are six phases for powering the processor, and two phases for powering the memory.

On a small separate board, the power controller is assembled. Two connectors for connecting the fan and LED backlight.
